Minimum Position Accuracy

The 'Min position accuracy' field is located on the Main form as shown. It is an angle for rotary mechanism, and a length for linear mechanisms.

The 'Min position accuracy' field is used for:

  1. Checks that if the combined backlash of all compenents in the drive chain is larger than the load minimum position accuracy value, a message appears in System Check. Products with backlash include gearboxes, rack & pinion, etc.

  2. When selecting a gearbox in the Gearboxes database, use either the standard or reduced backlash filter ('jt2std' or jt2red'), and the 'Req_jt2' variable. 'Req_jt2' is the min position accuracy at the load translated to the gearbox output. Therefore 'jt2std <= 'Req_jt2' means the gearbox backlash must be <= the minimum required application backlash at the gearbox output.

  3. On the Main form at the motor stage, display the minimum encoder resolution required to achieve the min position accuracy at the load.
