Motor Brake |
Click the Motor Brake button on the Main form Drive & Motor toolbar to open the Motor Brake form. The Motor Brake form can also be opened from the Motor Database form.
When "Use brake" is checked, the motor brake is enabled, and the brake image is shown with the motor. The brake inertia and max holding torque values shown are from the motor database for the selected motor.
If the selected motor has more than 1 brake option, the Brake Option List is displayed, and the user can select 1 of 3 possible brake options.
When "User specified" is checked, manually enter the brake inertia and max holding torque.
There are 3 Brake Control Modes
1. | Max holding torque | Brake is Off during the Sequence. All Dwells with a holding torque are supported by the motor, which increases the RMS torque and I2t. |
2. | Brake on at standstill | The motor brake is On when the motor velocity is zero. This helps the motor if there is a holding torque at standstill, decreasing its RMS torque and I2t. |
3. | Brake On / Off defined in Sequence |
User specifies when the Brake is On / Off in each Dwell Segment in the Move form. This helps the motor if there is a holding torque at standstill, decreasing its RMS torque and I2t. * Not supported for Rotary Knife Template and Pressure & Flow Sequence |
Specify the brake to be part of the load inertia or part of the motor inertia for the Inertia Mismatch Calculation.
